Name of the Speaker: Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin

Dr. Abdul Samad Salahuddin joined TIU’s Faculty of Pharmacy in November 2019 as Assistant Professor and has served as the university’s President since October 2020. Previously, as a founder Director (Dean), he established and developed a Pharmacy College in India in 2018-19. Prior to that, he taught at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University in Alkharj, Saudi Arabia (2011to 2018) and King Saud University in Riyadh (2008–2011). He has served on numerous accreditation committees for NCAAA, ACPE, and AQ Austria, among others. He has conducted numerous hands-on training sessions for instruments such as Ion Chromatography, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, HPLC, and microwave digestion systems. Dr. Abdul Samad also contributes to the scientific community by volunteering as a reviewer and editorial board member for a number of prestigious national and international journals. His primary area of research is the design of bioactive molecules using 3D-QSAR and docking approaches to gain insight into the binding mechanism of ligands with target proteins, followed by the synthesis of several small molecules such as Quinazolinones, Oxadiazoles, Thiadiazoles, and Benzohydrazides. Apart from publishing numerous book chapters and research articles, he has received three research grants totaling $38,000 from the Deanship of Scientific Research at Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University in Al-Kharj, Saudi Arabia.

Name of the Speaker:    Professor Giovanni Pierangelo Vidari

Giovanni Pierangelo Vidari was born on 12.12.1944 and graduated in Chemistry at the University of Pavia, Italy, where he was appointed Associate Professor in 1980 and Full Professor of Organic Chemistry in the year 2000. He has retired from November 1st 2015; however, he has maintained a contract with the University of Pavia for some teaching and research activities in the academic year 2015-16. From the beginning of 2019 he is Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Tishk International University – Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He has established several scientific agreements with foreign Institutions, mainly in emerging Countries. He has been supervisor of more than 100 BSc and PhD Dissertation Theses in Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies, member of PhD juries in Belgium, Sweden, Iraqi-Kurdistan, Myanmar, and Italy. The scientific activity of Professor Vidari is documented by about 270 papers (many co-authored with foreign authors) published in international peer-reviewed journals and more than 250 communications presented in national and international scientific meetings. Professor Vidari’s research interests have included the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds; the isolation and the determination of the structures and biological activities of secondary metabolites.

Name of the Speaker:      Professor Andrea Pieroni

Trained in medical botany at the University of Pisa, Professor Pieroni earned his doctorate in Pharmacy from the University of Bonn in Germany. He has worked as a Research Assistant at the University of London (2000-2003) and as a tenured Lecturer and, later, Senior Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy of the University of Bradford in northern England (2003-2009). From January 2009 he is Professor of Ethnobotany at the University of Pollenzo and from 2017 Rector. Professor Pieroni has served as the Vice-President and President of the International Society of Ethnobiology (2008-2010). He is the founder and Chief Editor of the Journal of Ethnobiology and Ethnomedicine ( and sits on the boards of diverse international peer-reviewed journals. His research focuses on the ethnobotany of food-medicines, especially among minorities and diasporas in the Greater Middle East and surrounding areas.

Faiq H.S. Hussain was received his PhD in Organic Chemistry, from the University of Manchester (UMIST), UK in 1985. In 1980 he joined the Chemistry Department, became a professor in 2003. He was lecturing at the University of Salahaddin / colleges of Science, Education, and Agriculture. Also lecturing in Hawler Medical University/College of Pharmacy. He holds a full professor position and he served as Director of Research Center at Tishk International University, and currently he is the Dean of Science Faculty. His research interests cover several aspects across. Organic Chemistry which includes Organic Synthesis (β-lactams and Heterocyclic Compounds) and Phytochemistry. He is (co) author of more than 90 papers and publications in national and international journals. He supervised nearly 50 M.Sc. and PhD students. He has been involved in many national and international collaborations, including Pavia University, UPO University, Calibria University in Italy, UTM University in Malaysia and EMU University in Cyprus.


Name of the Speaker:    Dr. Firas Aziz Rahi         

Job Title of the Speaker: Head of the Pharmacy department at Al-Turath University College in Baghdad

Graduated from the College of Pharmacy, University of Baghdad in 1992. Master’s degree in clinical biochemistry in 2011. Ph.D. in pharmaceutics in 2008.  He worked as a teacher in many colleges of pharmacy, undergraduate and postgraduate studies. He has a number of published researches and has won numerous scientific awards. He has participated in preparatory committees in numerous conferences, seminars and workshops in various ministries such as higher education, health and industry. He has a number of patents. Supervised a number of master’s students; currently he is the head of the pharmacy department at Al-Turath University College in Baghdad. He is also a consultant in the Industrial Property Department of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control – Department of Industrial Property. Member of the National Medicine Industry Committee in the Iraqi Ministry of Health. Member of the Scientific Council of the Industrial Research and Development Authority at the Ministry of Industry. Member of the Board of Directors of the state Co. for drugs industry and Medical appliances – Samarra / Iraq.

Dr. Omji Porwal is a Pharmacogonist and holds his Masters of Pharmacy in Pharmacognosy from University of Jhansi and PhD degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from J.S.S. College of Pharmacy, Ooty, Tamilnadu, India. Currently he is working as Professor, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University. He has more than 15 years’ vast experience from Industry about polymer, research and academics. He has published more than 40 research papers in various national and international journals with 4 patents and 2 international book chapters. He has 2 granted patent to his credit.

Dr. Myasar Al-kotaji is dean of College of pharmacy, Ninevah University, Mosul, Iraq. He has PhD in Pharmaceutics/ Biomolecular Drug delivery, from University of Manchester (UK), and Master in pharmaceutics, from University of Baghdad (Iraq), and Bachelor in Pharmacy, University of Mosul (Iraq). He has published 17 research articles in international and natural peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Javed Ahamad is an Assistant professor at Department of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Tishk International University, Erbil, Iraq. He received his Doctorate degree in Pharmacognosy & Phytochemistry from School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi (India). After his PhD, he joined Mettu University, Mettu, Ethiopia as assistant professor. He has more than 10 years’ experience in academia and industry. He has worked as Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Senior Research Fellow (SRF). He has published more than 60 high quality research and review articles in peer-reviewed journals of international repute. His current h-index is 12 with total number of citations of his publications >479. He is an editor/ co-editor of 2 books, one already published by Bentham Science Publisher and 1 submitted for Publication in CRC Press. He also published 10 book chapters for edited book and book series.  He is reviewer of many peer-reviewed journals of International repute. His current research interest lies in isolation, and characterization of anticancer and antidiabetic bioactive phytochemicals.

Dr. Subasini is Asst. Prof. of Pharmacology. She has completed Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology in SASTRA University, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. She has more 15 years teaching and research experience in herbal plants. She has gained knowledge of Drug Testing Laboratory in -charge for 2004 to 2008 Sponsored by AYUSH, Govt. of India. She has completed successfully funding project, as Principle investigator particularly on Leucoderma, Arthritis, and Coronary Heart disease sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and M/s. Orchid Fine Pharmaceuticals, Chennai. She undergone short term training courses on GLP Up-keep of animal house organized by DST, Govt. of India. She has published 45 research articles in national and international referred journals. She was the co-author of a text book in Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics published by New Academic Publishers, New Delhi.  She has taken Patent on Rheumatoid arthritis and applied one more on Leucoderma and she is also organized International level of 31st Annual Conference of IABMS in the capacity of organizing secretary. She obtained on two occasions best paper presentation awards Dr. Yellapragada Subba Rao Memorial Award for the best research paper. She guided 46 M.Pharm, 13 MBBS theses and 4 Ph.D theses. She got Fellow of the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists (FABMS) and External Examiner and question paper setter in various Universities.

Dr. Sharad Visht has completed his Under graduation (Bachelor of Pharmacy) from Shri Ram Murti Smarak College of Engineering and Technology, Bareilly. Postgraduation (Master of Pharmacy) in Pharmaceutics from Raj Kumar Goel Institute of Engineering and Technology, Ghaziabad. PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jawharlal National Technological University, Hyderabad. He has 15 years working experience in academics and administration in different institutions and Universities. He has guided and co-guidance 14 M. Pharm students and currently guiding 4 M. Pharm students, delivered a guest lecture in CSIR-SRTP2020 on topic “Extraction and Isolation of Phytoconstituents” and guided 9 interdisciplinary projects, filed 2 Process patents and 3 design patents, involved in 2 business incubator programs at IIT-Roorkee and DIT University, organized 3 National Faculty Development Program. He has membership with APTI, IPGA, SPER. His expertise is novel drug delivery system, photochemistry, organic synthesis. He contributed 2 Book chapters, 17 Research and 17 Review publications, 4 Oral presentations, 14 Poster presentations, 17 International and National conference, 7 Faculty development program and 5 workshops.
