4th National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference
The 4th National Tishk Pharmaceutical Conference, organised by the Faculty of Pharmacy at Tishk International University (TIU) on May 28-29, 2024, was centred around the theme of “Exploring New Research and Innovative Sustainable Development in Pharmacology & Nanotechnology.” The event’s inaugural day was held at the Dedeman Hotel in Erbil, where Asst.Prof.Dr. Idris Hadi, Head of the Board of Trustees, Prof.Dr. Sultan Orabi, President of Tishk International University, and Asst.Prof.Dr. Abdulsamad, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, delivered their respective welcome speeches. The diamond sponsors, Mass Construction and Clever Scientific, were presented with certificates of appreciation. Sponsors of the silver level include Splat and Forever companies.
Keynote speakers were comprised. Dr. Khaled Khrasiat, the founder and CEO of JAIP, delivered a speech entitled “Nanotech Innovation in Pharmaceuticals Research: Pros and Cons.” On “General Review of Ovarian Cancer Treatment and Resistance to Chemotherapy,” Dr. Khaled Alrosana from the department of clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice at Hashemite University delivered a speech. On “Pharmacogenetics: Understanding Variability in Drug Response,” Dr. Rojgar Hamed from the College of Pharmacy at Hawler Medical University delivered a speech. Dr. Myasar Alkotaji (College of Pharmacy, Ninevah University, Mosul, Iraq) delivered a speech on “Medical Applications of CNS,” while Dr. Reem Abou Assi discussed “The Impact of Penetration Enhancers on Transdermal Drug Delivery for Breast Cancer.” A certificate of appreciation and plaque were presented to each speaker. The first day concluded with a delightful lunch.
The second day of the conference was extended at the Tishk International University campus, where Asst. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Aslam delivered speeches. The event was a success in fostering discussions on sustainable development and innovative research in nanotechnology and pharmacology, providing a platform for professional networking and knowledge exchange. The conference indirectly supported a variety of global initiatives, such as the development of quality education, industry innovation, health and well-being, and the promotion of international partnerships. Additionally, the poster session was conducted on May 29th, during which researchers and pharmacy students were able to present their respective research findings and engage with conference attendees.
The conference was attended by 150 participants from a variety of universities in Kurdistan and Iraq, such as Tishk International University, Koya University, Hawler Medical University, University Kurdistan Hawler, Erbil Polytechnic University, Ninewa University, Al-Hadbaa University, Alkitab University, Knowledge University, and Duhok University.
