Dr. Khaled KhraisatKeynote speech I

Dr. Khaled Khraisat. Pharmaceutical, business and management background, Founder and CEO of JAIP (Academia Industry Platform Co.Ltd) with 27 years of experience in the business development of the life-science industry locally, regionally, and globally. With verified experience in IP, technology transfer and business creation for scientific research-based businesses, with long experience in patented projects in Pharma industry, biotech and many others. His area of interest in research is developing of delivery systems based on nanotechnology for controlled or triggered drug release. Alongside the primary applicant, JUST University in Jordan, he was a member of the management board overseeing the progress of the follow-up project with partners in Germany, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, and Greece. Dr. Khaled oversaw the establishment and management of a team of ten employees in the areas of contract manufacturing, licensing, and networking with the industrial sector.
He handled numerous initiatives that were funded project.

Dr. Tarek A. ElkhoolyKeynote speech II

Dr. Tarek Abbas Ali Elkhooly received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in biophysics from Mansoura University, Egypt, in 1999 and 2008, respectively. He was awarded a scholarship from DAAD (DAAD/GERLS program) in 2009 to complete his doctoral study in Germany and he received his PhD in natural science from faculty of biology, Mainz University, Germany in 2014. His doctoral thesis stands for multidisciplinary subjects including material science, biotechnology, cell biology, biomedicine and protein chemistry. Afterwards, He was awarded a postdoctoral fellowship, joining biomaterial group in the school of material science and engineering, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China for 3 years from 2014 to 2017. He focused in his postdoctoral research on studying the effect of nanoparticles on the differentiation of adult stem cells as well as coating of titanium implants with micro and nanoscale features using electrochemical technique for bone regeneration. Dr. Tarek Elkhooly is interested in developing engineered nanomaterials and biomedical devices that can be utilized in stem cell research, tissue engineering, drug delivery and fighting bacterial infection. He is an associate professor of biophysics at national research centre since 2019 and he is currently on full secondment at Delta University for Science and Technology acting as a director of nanomedicine research unit, director of university ranking center and head of central research units.

Dr. Reem Abou Assi is a fully registered pharmacist, currently affiliated as a lecturer at the College of Pharmacy at Al Kitab University, Iraq. She is the leader of the EDEN research group, with a track record of international and national invited judges, research collaborations, copyrights, and awards such as USM fellowships and excellence in publications awards from Majlis Persada Kencana, USM. Recently she was awarded the prestigious International Global Young Academy Membership which is capped at 200 members (2024). She has been spotted in many bulletins, including One Million Real Women in STEM (USA) and Gattefosse® Newsletters (France).

Dr Abou Assi is passionate about looking into and creating new educational resources and workshops that inspire scientists and students to find their gifts and improve their scientific communication abilities. Dr. Reem’s work focuses on creating nanotechnology-based solutions to improve drug performance in the human body with the tagline “safety and efficacy” coming together and is simultaneously published in first-class journals of Q1 and Q2. Dr. Reem fights climate change and promotes science literacy at the Centre for Global Sustainability Studies, USM, where she serves as a green ambassador and an ambassador for education.
At Al-Kitab University, besides the drug delivery and pharmaceutical sciences work, Dr. Reem is the head of the academic entrepreneur incubator, with ongoing collaborations with the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education, and a member of the Al-Kitab University climate change committee, tackling issues that are critical for Iraq’s future via current projects at the EDEN research group.

He was a research scientist and professor at the BBS Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Allied Health Sciences in Noida, India, as well as a lecturer at the Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research. He has a 97% qualification for Gate -2008. He has over 50 research publications published in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of numerous pharmaceutical associations. Additionally, he has a vibrant professional background in academia and research. For master students, he supervised and created new experiments and initiatives. In general, he is interested in nano-ophthalmic preparations, nanostructured lipid carriers for transdermal administration, and solid lipid nanoparticles for ocular delivery.

He was a public science communicator and took part in numerous national and international conferences. He has authored numerous books and translations. He served as the Executive Director of the Higher Committee for Drug Approval in the Kurdistan Region of the Ministry of Health from 2012 to 2018 and as Head of the Registration Department at the KMCA-MOH from September 2008 to June 2009. He was promoted to assistant professor in 2023 and is currently employed by HMU's School of Pharmacy as the Head of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.
