On 31 January 2019, a workshop was held in Tishk International University, Main building, by Dr. Karwan Jacksi from Zakho university.
Dr. Karwan made a brief introduction about EDAS system and how to apply this system for paper submission in the upcoming IEC conference. Different sections of the system were discussed which are related to Chairs, Track chairs, and Reviewers. The participants engaged in the workshop by discussing benefits of the system and drawbacks of the system and how to manage it in the reviewing process.
EDAS manages the paper submission, review and registration process for conferences, workshops and journals. It is a hosted and supported service, i.e., there is no softwware to install and support staff can help authors, reviewers and chairs with any problems. Users interact with EDAS using standard web browsers. EDAS models the basic work flow for most conferences: Authors register papers, providing information such as abstract and title, then upload the manuscript. Chairs and other members of the technical program committee assign reviews to papers, which reviewers will fill out online. Based on the reviews, chairs select the papers to be presented and notify authors. Authors of accepted papers upload their final manuscripts.
EDAS also supports other aspects of organizing a conference, such as hosting conference web pages, administering travel grants, creating visa letters, collecting registration fees, preparing USB flash drive or online content and printing badges. These aspects are not covered below.
