Abstract: This research discusses the principle of responsibility to protect as it is one of the current principles of international law. The principle of responsibility to protect is growing and it has a close link with the sovereignty of states considering the current international situation that came on the ruins of international humanitarian intervention in order to improve the protection of human rights from violations and serious crimes through promoting the principle of State sovereignty on the one hand and improving the capacity of the international community to respond on the other. The principle of the responsibility for protect in its application has several legal problems, most remarkably is its impact on principle of State sovereignty.
Therefore, the main objective of this study is to determine the correlation between the principle of responsibility to protect and the concept of sovereignty, due to the development of the international relations, the international law stays against any state to abuse its citizens. It is not allowed for any law even the principle of sovereignty to protect serious crimes against humanity. These considerations have led to the introduction of the principle of responsibility to protect as an effective tool for stopping committing violations of human rights by states.
