Abstract

Since 2009 kaizen has been implemented in many public sector organizations in Ethiopia. Hence, the researcher’s is motivated to investigate the achievements and challenges of kaizen design and implementation in Ethiopia public sector in case of Ambo University as statement of the problem. The overall objective of this study was examining the Challenges & achievement of Public Sector reform using the Kaizen philosophy: the case of Ambo University. Rule of thumb were used in selecting respondents from each bureau accordingly 60 respondents (30% of 200) were selected. The study implemented descriptive research design. In order to gather primary data from employee’s questioner & interview was used further Secondary data reviewed from various sources. In summary of the findings major achievements gained via kaizen like cost minimization, west minimization & good working environment. In the concluding remarks basically there is a quite considerable problem in the implementation of kaizen in Ambo University such as lack loyalty on implementation; the method of implementation is top-down approach than bottom up approach, lack contextualizing the tool during implementation. Based on the findings different recommendations suggested to improving the practices of Kaizen in the Ambo University.
