Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has forced education to shift from face-to-face to online settings. Even though online instruction is not new in the field it caught many educational institutions unprepared. This emergency situation put huge pressure on teachers and students, who had to accommodate to the new reality through trial and error methods. As a result, managing online classrooms, time, students\u2019 involvement in the live sessions, operating with the online educational technologies, and keeping the balance between professional and personal life has become an issue. This study aims to shed light on the skills and competencies a teacher needs to manage online courses. The research is based on the literature review of the studies written in the field and observations of the classes, teachers, and students in high education starting from March 2020 up to the present date. The findings and practical recommendations can be used to assist current teachers as well as stakeholders in developing their knowledge and skills in order to go in hand with the demands of the present day to create more fulfilling online education experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
