Abstract: The modern argumentation study has remarkably developed following the overlap of human disciplines, expansion of social sciences and variation of their directions. Nevertheless, they all recognize the need for argumentation study, especially in the fields of law, media, politics, language as well as the need for religion to it, since argumentation is represented in the study of the effectiveness of argumentation, the presentation of arguments and the study of speech techniques – in all it is forms regardless of being a short text – in order to influence the audience Perelman, the philosopher of law – to whom the theory of rhetorical argumentation is attributed – thinks that the most important functions of rhetorical argumentation to achieving consensus among the public in order to fulfill the obligation towards the issues that are raised for the purpose of agreement.
Undoubtedly this achieves peaceful dialogues in an atmosphere of freedom and mental conviction with the achievement of the intended results of the urge to work, conviction of the idea or obligation of the addressee – whether individual or audience – to work according to the speaker after being convinced by the correct and sound arguments. Owing to its significance, argumentation study has become the subject of scholars in Sharia, law, media, psychology, philosophy and other human sciences.
Thus, due to the nature of the research, this study can benefit lawyers and the judges in the pleadings and deliberations, the media men in the interlocutions as well as the people of the Sharia in the establishment of sound religious issues. This study is therefore divided into a preamble and two chapters. The preamble presents the concept of rhetorical argumentation and other terms of this meaning such as controversy, dialogue and debate, and highlights the approaches of these terms.
The first chapter is entitled “Argumentation: its principles and effectiveness” that discusses the methods of presenting arguments and their types, and the way of transition from a weak argument to a strong argument that convinces or binds the opponent. The second chapter, on the other hand, is the applied study in the dialogues of Prophet Abraham, peace be upon him, in the Holy Quran, which were characterized by unique features in the way the presenting the arguments and their types that they were according to the type of the recipient; he spoke to himself, to the angels, his father, the king and his people. Finally, the study is concluded with the most important results, especially in terms of the applied study
