Abstract
International law has addressed the regulation of outer space usage through several international conventions, all grounded in the principle of “the free use of outer space for all States without distinction. “This principle ensures equal access for all nations but confines space activities to peaceful purposes only. Moreover, any activities undertaken by a State involving spacecraft or objects launched into outer space fall under the absolute jurisdiction of the State where such objects are registered. The 1971 Convention on International Liability for Damage Caused by Spacecraft, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, established several key principles. Among them is the principle that a State holds absolute international responsibility to compensate for damage resulting from its activities in outer space.
