Abstract
Human trafficking has become a modern form of international cross-border crime, practiced by specialized criminal networks. This is because the crime of human trafficking is an inevitable result of the instability witnessed by some countries in the world and the displacement and refugees left behind by wars and political and security tragedies, in addition to the lack of job opportunities, disrespect for human dignity, and the decline of the social standard. These and other reasons are the main reasons that provide a fertile environment for the spread of the crime of human trafficking…
The proceeds of human trafficking have become competitive with the proceeds of other criminal activities such as arms and drug trafficking, and have been resorted to in an effort to achieve profit and wealth for criminals at the expense of human dignity. It is noted that the crime of human trafficking has a close connection with other criminal phenomena such as money laundering, forgery, corruption and bribery…, as it remains in dire need of other criminal phenomena that facilitate and ease its illegal work.
The importance of the subject is evident in the fact that the crime of human trafficking, or what has become known as “modern slavery”, has worsened in recent years, and the number of victims has increased, finding themselves a commodity controlled by buying and selling and exploited for the most heinous forms of humiliating exploitation, in various forms and manifestations, from sexual exploitation and trafficking in human organs and others… and in the complete absence of the lowest levels of respect for the human dignity of the individual, this crime strikes a wall against all principles and values of human rights.
What increases the seriousness of the crime of human trafficking is its connection to organized crime led by specialized gangs involved in international migration, who have knowledge of smuggling routes and influence over oversight agencies, in addition to their forgery of travel documents and identities. They have become increasingly bold in challenging laws and legislation, violating human rights, and tampering with the safety of their lives and bodies without justification, which we will discuss and analyze through this intervention.
