Profile: <\/strong><\/em>Dr. Ahmad Baheej Al-Khalil is a specialist Lecturer in Computer Science with an experience in computer networks, vehicular communications, IoT\/M2M communications, SDN and Network Security. Dr. Al-Khalil obtained his first Degree in Computer Science from the University of Mosul – Iraq (2003). He has been awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Computing from the University of Buckingham \u2013 UK (2008).\u00a0 In (2009), Dr. Al-Khalil has been admitted to the Degree of Master of Science in Innovative Computing from the University of Buckingham \u2013 UK.\"\" He has numerous notable achievements in his education and his work experience. The most remarkable achievement was when he has been granted the award of Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Northampton \u2013 UK (2016) after successfully defended his PhD thesis, with several publications. Dr. Al-Khalil is currently the head of Computer Networks and System Security research group in the department of Computer Science, College of Science \u2013 University of Duhok. He is also the representative of IEEE Iraq Section (Kurdistan Region) and a professional member of the British Computer Society BCS, the Institute of Engineering and Technology IET and the Association for Computing Machinery ACM.<\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong><\/em> In-flight internet is one of the important topics that recently attracts the telecommunications industry, where the society needs to be constantly connected increases, so has the pressure to have inflight WiFi systems on the world’s airlines. The in-flight internet service has been so slow and spotty and these were the main challenges faced by the telecommunications industry. Fortunately, this dream comes truth and now it is closer to reality after a new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decision, where a new 2Ku satellite system has been permitted that can run a whopping 70 Mbps. This workshop demonstrates the use of the internet communication systems in the airplanes, as it covers the in-flight internet mechanism and reviews the latest technologies that are currently in use.<\/p>\n

A.I Techniques: Steering the Behaviour of Human Actors in Agent-Based Modelling<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Profile:<\/strong><\/em> Dr. Shaheen Abdullah Abdulkareem (PhD) is an IEEE member of Iraq sector. She received the BSc. degree in Computer Science from University of Duhok, Kurdistan-region, Iraq, in 2005, and her Master of Science degree in Geoinformatics from Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), University of Twente (The Netherlands) in 2010.\"\" In April 2019, she received her PhD from the Department of Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM), University of Twente, (The Netherlands) and the Department of Computer Science, University of Duhok (Kurdistan-region, Iraq). Her background is in computer science and the research interests include: spatial agent-based models, artificial intelligence, and the implementation of machine learning algorithms in agent-based models to steer agents\u2019 behaviour for complex decisions.<\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong><\/em> Agent-Based Models (ABMs) are indispensable for studying the aggregated impacts of individual actions of heterogeneous agents. Concurrently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been employed for decades to simulate autonomous actions of individual entities that react, learn and exchange information with an environment and one another. There are obvious synergies between the two computational approaches \u2013 i.e. ABMs and AI. AI could be used to enhance agents\u2019 behaviour in ABMs. AI as a method to implement intelligence, allows for a richer agents\u2019 architecture. AI algorithms can help in the operationalization of more realistic learning for reaching decisions beyond a simplistic treatment of agents\u2019 cognitive and sensory capacities. In this workshop, we perform a systematic structured analysis of ABMs of socio-environmental systems using AI algorithms to enhance agents\u2019 intelligence.<\/p>\n

Remote Experimentation Labs in Science and Engineering Education: VISIR System<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Profile: <\/em><\/strong>Dr.\u00a0 Razwan M.S. Najimaldeen graduated in 2003 BSc degree in Computer Science from the University of Technology (UoT), Baghdad-Iraq. He obtained an MSc degree in Information Technology (IT) from the University Utara Malaysia (UUM), Kedah-Malaysia, and a PhD degree in Online Labs fields from the Universidade\u00a0 do Algarve (UAlg), Faculty of Science and Informatics, Faro-Portugal, and partially at the Polytechnic of Porto-ISEP, respectively. \"\"Currently, Dr. Razwan is a lecturer at the University of Duhok, Computer Science Department, Kurdistan Region-Iraq. He is a member of IEEE- Iraq Section and a member of Special Interesting Group (SIG) of VISIR system. He has authored and co-authored several research papers, including book chapter and conference and Journal papers. Dr. Razwan was involved and served several national and international conferences, and some research projects. His research interests include Remote Labs, E-learning, Education Technology, and Virtual Reality.<\/p>\n

Abstract:<\/strong><\/em> Online laboratories enable teachers and researchers to share their knowledge across institutional boundaries. It has been observed that online laboratories have a positive effect on students’ skills acquisition and promote collaborative work by allowing students to perform physical experiments remotely usually 24\/7. This workshop is devoted to one such remote lab named Virtual Instrument Systems in Reality (VISIR), which is installed in several higher education institutions around the world and has elected by Global Online Laboratory Consortium (GOLC) as the best remote-controlled laboratory in the world in 2015. Currently, the VISIR system plays an important role in Science and Engineering disciplines by complementing hands-on laboratories and allowing teachers and students to conduct real experiments with electric and electronic circuits via the Internet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
