His research interests focus on light phase of photosynthesis, molecular dynamics of membranes, extremophiles and mechanisms used by plants to counteract various abiotic stresses. During his scientific career, he held various positions, such as director of the Institute of Molecular Biology, director of the International Centre for Biotechnology, dean of the Faculty of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Biotechnology, and president of the Polish Society for Experimental Plant Biology. He has received numerous awards, including prizes from the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Golden Cross of Merit, Medal of Leon Marchlewski awarded by Committee of\u00a0 Biochemistry and Biophysics Polish Academy of Sciences, Tyge Christensen Prize and diploma and medal \u201cVisita Distinguida\u201d from Concepcion University, Chile. Professor Strza\u0142ka is a member of \u00a0numerous Scientific Committees, Boards and Editorial Committees.
